Wildflower Commission Installed at New Hollywood Hospital Emergency Department
As the Spring 2021 wildflower season hit its stride I spent many early mornings exploring and capturing the wonderful cross section of our native flora as it ebbed and flowed, in and out of peak flowering season. Shooting on my 102 megapixel Fujifilm GFX100 and the superb Fujifilm 23mm wide angle lens I wanted to create impact and depth by getting up close to the flowers whilst also showing them as part of their broader situational landscape. I was blessed with a few mornings of still, near wind free conditions and also the occasional shower of fresh spring rain which offered enhanced colour, contrast and the joy of clinging water droplets to the flowers and foliage.
Northern Adventures
In July and August 2020 I embarked on a northern Western Australian road trip with my two daughters Amy and Holly. Over the course of 6 weeks, (5 weeks with them), we travelled “alot” and I photographed a new series of works from Karijini, Broome, broader Kimberley and a stint on the Ningaloo Coast on the way back down where I also met up with my son Jordan and his mates as they camped out at Lefroy Bay.
It was a truly tremendous trip, fortuitous in its timing as we could all head off with minimal lead time and share in what was some pretty magical experiences.
Western Australia at the time had a closed border with the rest of the Australian states and internationally due to COVID 19. By shutting down our borders early, local Western Australians have been able to go about there “local” lives pretty freely while other places both in Australia and particularly internationally haven’t been so fortunate.
What this did mean however was that this was a unique opportunity to explore our state with predominantly only Western Australians out and about. Overall traveller numbers were well down apart from popular tourist towns, the wet season had been pretty wet and late which provided beautiful environmental conditions and I met up with many an old friend as it had been a few years since I had been up this far in the north.
Overall we had a very memorable experience and one I’m sure we will look back on with great fondness in future years.
I look forward to sharing some more experiences from this trip with you soon…
Welcome to my new paulparin website!
It has been along time coming… I know, I know and I apologise but if there was ever a silver lining to this ongoing Covid 19 chaos, then I found myself with some dedicated time, (yes quarantine time…) to get this site “live” and progressed to where you see it today.
There is another story there… somewhere… which will require some telling but the most important and personally exciting thing for me is here we are… up and running!
My Artwork Gallery will slowly fill up and there is lots of content still being added but take a peak…
Feel free to explore my new paulparin site and let me know what you think. It is obviously a work in progress but now I have some initial Artwork Galleries and Artwork Purchase options in place with more added daily.
You can even place your Artwork and (soon) Printing Service orders directly through my site, make payment and organise for delivery.
All Artwork orders are shipped within Australia are free!
Yes, Yes... all very exciting, (for me at least) but I’m sure you will enjoy the beautiful places I have been very fortunate to have visited in Western Australia and I hope you enjoy my interpretation of these places and the many others from near and abroad which will be finding their way here soon…..
Thanks crew...
